The purpose of this exploratory consensual qualitative research study was to examine the experiences of eight clients from north-central Appalachia who interfaced with the mental health system as consumers of mental health services. The inductive data analysis yielded four primary domains: reasons to seek services, experiences with therapy, understanding diagnosis and medication, and the role of others.
